To the members of European Debating Community, I am honoured to invite you all to the Vehbi Koç European Universities Debating Championship ISTANBUL2007 on behalf of the Koç University Debate Club. KUDC is one of the oldest debating societies in Turkey. For many years, KUDC has proven to be a pioneer not only in Turkey but also in the region. After the organization of the successful ISTANBUL200X International Debate Tournament series and glorious EUDC 2007, it will be a pleasure for our society to host Istanbul2008. We believe that KUDC has the passion, experience, knowledge and most importantly the real motivation and energy to organise an unforgettable debating tournament. As the ISTANBUL2008 organisation committee, we have almost finished the preparations for the tournament. We started making the sponsorship deals in order to ensure that there will be no financial problems that could distract the flow of the organisation We believe that a 5-day summer tournament in Istanbul – the city which has been the meeting point of the two continents, as well as many different ideologies, religions and nationalities for centuries – will be a week that none of the participants would ever forget. For us, ISTANBUL2008 does not mean an ordinary debate tournament. It is a long term project, a vision; to form unique memories and experiences for all those that choose to join us and to enjoy being young in one of the most beautiful cities in the world.
